About Mark Woeppel

IN SHORT

Mark Woeppel is a Theory of Constraints author and manufacturing consultant (Pinnacle Strategies; books including Building Resilient Manufacturing Operations). Leadership Design applies that operating lens to supervisor and new-manager training.

Background

Mark Woeppel is an internationally known author, speaker, and lecturer on continuous improvement, project management, production scheduling, supply chain management, synchronous flow manufacturing, the Theory of Constraints, cost accounting, organizational measurement, and performance management. See his author site at Mark Woeppel on mfgresilience.com.

He has led operations as a director governing multiple engineer-to-order manufacturing sites and as vice president of operations for high-volume repetitive manufacturing. He has been a consulting director for a scheduling software company, president of a management training organization, and president of a multi-national consulting organization.

He has taught executive decision making at the University of Kansas, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and UCLA; The Jonah Course at the University of North Texas; and materials management courses at Tulsa Community College. He is a member of APICS, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Theory of Constraints International Certification Organization.

Approach

Mark founded Leadership Design to close a gap he saw repeatedly in plants: technically skilled leaders who default to doing the work. His approach pairs practical leadership training with Execution Performance Management: clear roles, decision rights, coaching, and aligned measures.

The operating logic comes from the Theory of Constraints: find what limits the system, focus on it, and align people and measures to it.

Books

Mark has written six books, including Building Resilient Manufacturing Operations (J. Ross Publishing, 2025).
